Spam Text Messages
Spam texts are annoying and may be illegal in certain instances. If you believe that you received a spam text, please contact us to review your claim.
Saving Spam Texts
A popular app called SMS Backup & Restore, available from the Google Play Store, allows saving text messages to .xml files and works for all versions of Android. Detailed instructions for using the app are available from the app’s creator here.
Without using a paid app or special software, the best way to save texts from an iPhone is by taking a screenshot of the offending message with your phone such that the screenshot records the date, time, and sending number, as well as the actual content of the message. You can take a screenshot on an iPhone by pressing the ‘Home’ and ‘Sleep/Lock’ buttons at the same time. The resulting screenshot is saved to the phone’s ‘Photos’ folder.
Other smartphones, and older (non-smart) cell phones
For all other phones, especially non-smart cell phones, the best option is to take a photo of the spam text message with a digital camera to capture the time, date, sending number, and content of the message.
